Thanksgiving Turkey Trot: Back in 2021 !

While many things have been longed-for during the last two years, one of the “most-missed” made its reappearance on Thanksgiving morning last Thursday. The 24th Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot came back to life as we try to get past Covid-19, as close to 200 Prep family, friends and alumni gathered in the Bayley-Seton Auditorium for Mass, celebrated by Prep Chaplain Fr. Bogumil Misiuk ’08, assisted by President Msgr. Michael Kelly, Msgr. Edward Bradley and Chaplain Fr. James White; and then on to the Kelly Athletic Complex for a 5K (for the running enthusiasts) or an hour’s walk (for those with less lofty fitness goals). The Prep’s Fathers Club again provided refreshments for the attendees at the Tony Esposito Jr. ’07 Pirates Cove.  • In a reminder of the event's long tradition, Class of 2021 alumnus Nate Cannizzo ran the 5K in the T-shirt originally worn in the inaugural 1998 event by his father, Matt Cannizzo '90, former SHP Director of Institutional Advancement and now Regional Development Officer for Notre Dame. • The event followed by only a few days the passing of former Fathers Club President, and father and grandfather of more than a dozen Prep alumni, Neil McNulty. To commemorate his decades of support and service to the SHP Community, Msgr. Kelly announced that the event has been renamed the Neil McNulty Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot.
