  Mr. Barnitt, a 1988 alumnus of Seton Hall Prep, earned his B.A. in English from Georgetown University and his Master of Social Work from Rutgers University.  He has been working at the Prep since 1993 and  in the Guidance Department since 2004.  In addition to his work in Guidance, he works closely with the Griffin Bridges Program and is the Head Coach of the Cross Country Team.  He is also the school’s contact for Naviance/Family Connection and heads up our school’s peanut butter and jelly sandwich making efforts for St. John’s Soup Kitchen.  He is also a Part-Time Lecturer at Rutgers Graduate School of Social Work.

  Mr. Scheick graduated from Seton Hall Prep in 1992 and has been working at the Prep since 1997. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education and Special Education from Providence College, as well as a Master of Arts degree in Counseling and Human Services from Montclair State University. Mr. Scheick has been a member of the Guidance Department since 2003. Prior to working as a Guidance Counselor, he served as the Prep’s Learning Specialist and Coordinator of the Learning Assistance Program. He is also Co-Director of the Ambassador Program and Moderator of the Car Club.

  Mr. McKenna , a 1995 alumnus of Seton Hall Prep, earned his B.A. in Political Science from Loyola University, Md.  He went on to earn his M.A. in Special Education from New Jersey City University and a M.A. in Counseling from Montclair State University.   He has been a guidance counselor for five years-  the past two years here at The Prep.  Before returning to The Prep, Mr. McKenna was a guidance counselor at Livingston High School and Elizabeth High School.  He earned his Master’s in Counseling from Montclair State University in 2008, with a concentration in School Counseling.  Prior to becoming a guidance counselor, Mr. McKenna was a special education teacher in Jersey City and Glen Rock, NJ, and a character education teacher in Cedar Grove, NJ.

  Mark Vitale

  Mr. Mark Vitale is a proud 2010 graduate of Seton Hall Preparatory School. He went on to attend Seton Hall University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education and Spanish, followed by a master’s degree in School Counseling.

  
  Mr. Vitale returned to Seton Hall Prep in the fall of 2016 as a Spanish teacher and joined the School Counseling Department the following year. In addition to his counseling responsibilities, he serves as the moderator of the Tower Yearbook and Sophomore Homeroom, co-moderator of the Ambassador program, Assistant Director of Admissions working directly with our transfer student applicants, coordinates the Advanced Placement program, and oversees weekend SAT and ACT administrations.

  
  A strong believer in supporting students beyond the classroom, Mr. Vitale founded and leads Pirates and Parents on a Journey, SHP’s grief support program. He also embraces opportunities to immerse himself in the broader SHP community. He attends our Kairos retreat yearly and has chaperoned student trips to Park City, Utah, and China, as well as service trips to Camden, West Virginia, and Guatemala.

  
  For Mr. Vitale, Seton Hall Prep is much more than a place to work; it is a community that has played an important role in his life. He takes great pride in giving back to the school that helped shape him and in building meaningful connections with its students, families, faculty, and staff.

  Annemarie Wonski

  Mrs. Wonski, a 2011 graduate of the Academy of Saint Elizabeth, earned her B.S. in Counseling and Human Services from the University of Scranton. She went on to earn her M.A. in School Counseling and an advanced graduate degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Montclair State University. She earned her Licensed Associate Counselor (L.A.C.) credential in 2025.

   

  Prior to joining Seton Hall Prep, Mrs. Wonski spent five years at the Academy of Saint Elizabeth, where she worked as a School Counselor and served as the school’s ISP/504 Coordinator. She joined Seton Hall Prep for the 2025–2026 school year as the Emotional Support Counselor, providing additional social emotional and mental health support to students. Mrs. Wonski joined the School Counseling Department in 2026. She has a particular passion for social and emotional learning and developing curriculum and programming that supports students personal growth and overall wellbeing.
