Retired NFL Player, Healthcare Executive
Jarrod G. Johnson, MBA, NHA, FACHE, is an experienced healthcare leader in hospital operations at large health systems and community hospitals. He currently is a Chief Executive Officer in the hospital & healthcare industry.
Mr. Johnson was a two-sport player at Seton Hall Prep, playing football and basketball. He was a 1st team All-State football player, while playing center. He was Coach Tony Verducci’s last first team all-state player. He played an integral part on the 1985 state football championship team, as well as played on the 1986 basketball state championship team.
Mr. Johnson played football collegiately at Lehigh University, where he was a two time all Patriot League player and All American his senior year, while being voted captain of the football team. He graduated with a BA in Economics. Johnson signed as an undrafted free agent into the NFL, playing for the 1991 Pittsburgh Steelers and 1992 San Diego Chargers. During the Spring of 1992, he played for the Sacramento Surge of the World League of American Football (NFL Europe). He won a World Bowl II championship with the Surge.
Jarrod received his MBA from Howard University in 1995 and in 2017 received a Certificate in Healthcare Delivery from Harvard University. Currently, he is a Doctoral candidate in Healthcare Leadership at the University of Alabama-Birmingham.
He was recognized as a top Black Healthcare Leader and top Community Hospital CEO for 2023-2025 by Beckers Healthcare. He has been recognized as Young Healthcare Executive of the year as well as Senior Healthcare Executive of the year by the American College of Healthcare Executives.
Currently, Jarrod is a college football official, who works at the FCS Division 1 level. He works in the Coastal Athletic Association, Ivy League and Patriot League as well Line Judge. He worked the 2019 National Championship Game between Eastern Washington and North Dakota State in Frisco, TX. This is his 12th season at the FCS Division 1 level.
