    Latin Students Take First Place in Competition

    Seton Hall Prep Latin students took first place in Montclair State University's annual Classics Day competition. On Friday, November 15th, these students measured their Latin and Roman culture skills against other schools and won the gold medals for their excellence. 
  • Students Bring Fall Drama, Puffs, to Life

    Seton Hall Prep theatre brought Matthew Cox's high-energy parody of the Harry Potter franchise, Puffs, to life in Bayley Seton Auditorium on November 14-16. Under the Direction of Andrew Martinez '11, the fall drama saw a record number of cast members from both The Prep plus young women from surrounding schools.
  • 16 Student-Athletes Sign on First NCAA Date

    Seton Hall Prep had 16 senior student-athletes participate in the first NCAA Signing Day of the 2024-2025 school year across three sports -  Baseball (9), Lacrosse (6), and Soccer (1). We are proud of our initial signees, and look forward to the December, February, and April dates as more members of the Class of 2025 shore up their collegiate plans.   • Mothers Auxiliary Hosts Fall Gala 2024: Havana Nights

    The Seton Hall Prep Mothers Auxiliary hosted their Annual Fall Gala on Thursday, Nov. 7th at The Hanover Manor. Havana Nights was a joyful and fun evening that started with a cocktail hour featuring an item-packed auction before moving into the main room for the remainder of the night. In addition to the hundreds of current and former parents in attendance, members of the student body, SHP faculty, staff, and our C-Tonians helped make the night a great success.

  • SHP World Languages Department Hosts Annual Honor Society Induction Ceremony

    The SHP World Languages Department hosted the Annual Honor Society Induction Ceremony on Thursday, Nov. 7th, where students, families, faculty and administration gathered to recognize and celebrate students' dedication and achievements to language and cultural understanding.

  • Fathers Club hosts annual Family Mass and Communion Breakfast

    The Seton Hall Prep Fathers Club hosted their annual Family Mass and Communion Breakfast on Sunday, Nov. 3, presenting Joseph Alexander '77 and Joe Cipollone H'22 with the Thomas A. Reynolds Award. Mass was celebrated by Rev. Bogumil Musiuk '08 and concelebrated by President Msgr. Michael E. Kelly '57.

  • Eight Individuals, Three Teams Welcomed into SHP Hall of Fame

    Seton Hall Prep inducted eight new members and three teams at the 39th Annual Hall of Fame Dinner. Seven former student-athletes, one honorary member, and the 1960 Track Team, 1992 Lacrosse Team, and the 2003 Baseball Team were celebrated and honored on October 23rd at The Hanover Manor in front of nearly 290 attendees.

  • Staff Members Present at NJ School Counselor Association Conference

    Current staff members Mark Vitale '10 and Ralph Dellanno '75 presented at the NJ School Counselor Association Conference this past Friday, discussing their role in "Pirates on a Journey" - SHP's Grief Support Program - while encouraging other schools to start similar groups in their respective districts.

    14 Students Highlighted through The College Board National Recognition Programs

    Fourteen Seton Hall Prep students have earned academic honors from the College Board National Recognition Programs. The College Board National Recognition Programs award academic honors to sophomores and juniors who take eligible administrations of AP®, PSAT/NMSQT®, or PSAT™ 10 exams, have a GPA of 3.5 or higher and identify as African American or Black, Hispanic or Latino, Indigenous or Native, or attend high school in a rural area or small town. Students apply on BigFuture® during the second semester of 10th or 11th grade.
  • Students Earn National Recognition through College Board & BigFuture

    We are proud to announce the results of this year’s National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.  This year 10 SHP students are being recognized as Commended Students.
  • Mr. Pascal Published in Mark Twain Publication

    Mr. John Pascal, a teacher of 9th, 11th Grade English Honors, and The Writings of Mark Twain Honors has accepted an appointment to the national Editorial Board of the Mark Twain Journal The Author and His Era.  In addition, last summer the editors of the Mark Twain Journal, asked him to write an article in his continuous Twain studies and he wrote: “Mark Twain ‘On the Move’ with his Twenty-First Century Passengers” for publication in its Spring 2024 edition.  This marks his fourteenth formal publication in Mark Twain studies.

  • The Class of 2028 Enjoy the Tradition of Freshman Field Day

    The Class of 2028's Freshman Field Day was a success, where teamwork, camaraderie, respect and brotherhood were on full display at The KAC on Tuesday, Sept. 17.     Matthew Bergwall '25, Brayden Kijanka '25, & Owen Bednarski '26 helped push forward an initiative to improve the school's academic and activities programs with new Bloomberg Terminals. We are thankful to all who helped contribute to these exciting improvements!
  • Mourning the Passing of Teacher Tom Murray

    It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we inform our community of the passing of long-time and beloved faculty member, Mr. Tom Murray. Tom, a math teacher at The Prep for over 20 years, passed on July 20, 2024. 
  • Students Inspired on Pilgrimage to Italy

    This June a group of students took part in the inaugural Seton Hall Prep Pilgrimage to Italy. Led by Fr. Bogumil Misiuk '08, SHP Assistant to the President and Chaplain, the students immersed themselves in the Catholic culture of Italy by attending Mass and praying at churches and basilicas, visiting historical Scriptural sites, and indulging in fine Italian cuisine.  See below for a reflection by Seton Hall Prep student, Sebastian Nativo '26.

    David Festa '18 Debuts for the Twins

    Thursday night in Arizona, David Festa '18 made his Major League pitching debut for the Minnesota Twins. The 24-year-old right-hander went 5 innings, giving up 5 runs, but thanks to his team's run support he earned his first MLB win, over the Diamondbacks. [continues]...
     
  • Class of 2024: Baccalaureate Mass & Commencement Ceremony

    Seton Hall Prep honored its Class of 2024 with the traditional Baccalaureate Mass and Awards Ceremony at the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart followed by the school's 164th Commencement Exercises at Seton Hall University. Prior to graduation weekend, seniors were also honored prior to their final day of classes at the Celebration of Excellence assembly in early May.

    Honoring Faculty Retirees & 25 Years of Service

    Seton Hall Prep honored seven retirees and four current faculty members for achieving the milestone of 25 Years of Service to The Prep at the Celebration of Excellence last Friday.  Retiring following the 2023-2024 academic year are Mr. Albert Calcagno, Mr. Don Coleman, Mrs. Judy Gunn, Dr. Jim Incardona, Mrs. Marian Mulvihill, Mrs. Sharon Rondinella, and Fr. Jim White. Faculty members who reached the milestone of 25 Years of Service are Dr. Mark Connolly, Mr. John Henrikson, Mr. Billy Ward, and Mr. Michael T. Zinsmeister.
  • Robotics Team Qualifies for FMA District Championships

    The Robotics Team has been hard at work building and competing with their robot dubbed “The Shanty” in this year’s First Robotics Competition. With only ten weeks to build the robot from scratch, the team jumped into action to build the 100 lb machine that would complete the tasks in this year’s game. The students worked through all parts of the process: design, prototyping, fabrication, wiring, testing, coding, drive practice, and strategy.

    SHP Alumnus Msgr. Joseph R. Reilly ’83 Named University President

    Seton Hall Prep alumnus Monsignor Joseph R. Reilly, S.T.L., Ph.D., Class of 1983, was appointed as Seton Hall University's 22nd President. After Monsignor Reilly graduated Seton Hall Prep he continued on to attend the University and earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology in 1987. He was later ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Newark in 1991. He served us at The Prep as a Theology Teacher, Director of Campus Ministry, and Chaplain from 1995-2002, upon which he returned to Seton Hall University as Rector of the College Seminary at St. Andrew’s Hall.

    SHP Students Win National Chinese Language Awards

    Four SHP students have distinguished themselves at the national level with awards in Mandarin Chinese, having participated in the 2023 Essay Competition and 2024 Talent Competition for CLASS (The Chinese Language Association of Elementary-Secondary Schools). 

  • SHP Aerospace visits CAE

    The SHP Aerospace class visited C.A.E. (Canadian Aviation Electronics) at their North East Training Center in Morristown on Tuesday, March 12th. CAE is the world's largest civil aviation training network with over 250 sites and training locations in over 40 countries.

    SHP Succeeds at Model UN Conference

    The Seton Hall Prep Model UN Club recently had a great showing at SHUMUN XXV, hosted by Seton Hall University. Students had the opportunity to collaborate with delegates from schools across the tri-state area to address real-world problems. Seton Hall Prep delegates excelled and the club, as a whole, won the award for "Best Small Delegation" at the conference. Additionally, many members received individual awards, ranging from "Best Position Paper" to "Best Delegate."
     
  • 14 Seniors Celebrate College Commitments

    Seton Hall Prep had 14 seniors participate in the February signing day on campus. These successful student-athletes are committed to playing their sport at the NCAA level.
  • Seniors Celebrate Success in Early Period of College Notifications

    The Class of 2024 has thrived in the early notification period for college admissions. Although increased selectivity continues to permeate the higher education landscape, SHP students have distinguished themselves uniquely, garnering acceptance to the most selective National Universities and Liberal Arts Colleges across the country. Even with a large portion of outcomes yet to be announced, the Class of 2024 has received admission to roughly 200 institutions with the majority ranking within the USNEWS top 100 National Universities and Top 50 Liberal Arts Colleges.

  • Marty Berman Named National Coach of the Year

    Seton Hall Prep Soccer Head Coach Marty Berman H'05 has been named the United States Soccer Coaches Association's private/parochial boys National Coach of the Year for 2023. Marty's Pirates finished No. 1 in NJ upon capturing their third NJSIAA Non-Public A State Title in the past four attempts.
