Seton Hall Prep is New Jersey’s oldest Catholic college preparatory school. The Prep's tradition is matched by its commitment to the education of young men by teaching them to think critically, communicate effectively and become contributing members of society.
At Seton Hall Prep, students participate in many of the amazing offerings available to them outside of the classroom. This includes 15 sports, more than 70 activities and clubs, a variety of intramurals and a seemingly endless number of service projects.
“To equip the holy ones for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of faith and knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the extent of the full stature of Christ.”
The John Sweeney Gala Benefiting The Thomas A. Reynolds Jr. '48 Scholarship Fund at Seton Hall Prep will be held on Friday, October 9, 2026, at Pendry Natirar in Peapack, New Jersey.
The Reynolds Fund supports Seton Hall Prep students whose families have faced the loss of a breadwinner or serious financial hardship. The scholarship was founded after the passing of Thomas Reynolds, a Seton Hall Prep Fathers Club President who had quietly paid out of pocket for students who had lost a father and otherwise would have been forced to leave the Prep. Since its inception, the Fund has helped more than 200 young men attend Seton Hall Prep.

John Sweeney worked with The Reynolds Fund for over 20 years after the passing of his father, Lawrence Sweeney, a scholarship co-founder and friend of Thomas Reynolds. Through that work, John helped carry forward a family legacy of service to the Prep community and to young men in need.
The Gala will be held at Natirar, a historic estate that John helped preserve during his 19 years of public service as Peapack-Gladstone Council President. The evening will include cocktail hour, dinner, awards, speeches, and an opportunity to support students in need of a Seton Hall Prep education.
