Seton Hall Prep is New Jersey’s oldest Catholic college preparatory school. The Prep's tradition is matched by its commitment to the education of young men by teaching them to think critically, communicate effectively and become contributing members of society.
At Seton Hall Prep, students participate in many of the amazing offerings available to them outside of the classroom. This includes 15 sports, more than 70 activities and clubs, a variety of intramurals and a seemingly endless number of service projects.
“To equip the holy ones for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of faith and knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the extent of the full stature of Christ.”
We’re thrilled to share that John Keegan, proud alumnus of our Class of 1957, has been nominated for the New Jersey Hall of Fame in the Public Service Category. John serves as CEO and Chairman of the Edison Fund, which was founded in 1948 by Charles Edison – the famed inventor and entrepreneur’s son- who established “The Fund” to support the legacy of his father as well as innovative endeavors within the areas of medical research, science, technology and historic preservation.
John has been a major supporter of Seton Hall Prep since graduating in 1957. A classmate of our President Msgr. Michael E. Kelly, he has stayed close to his alma mater by assisting heavily in our STEM curriculum, most recently presenting Dean of Academics, David Snyder ’89, with the Tommy – 2023 Outstanding Achievement in STEM Education award at the Celebration of Excellence. John has also been pivotal in assisting Griffin Bridges students secure summer internships at Thomas Edison National Historical Park.
Msgr. Kelly notes, “John has been a lifelong friend of mine since we were students at The Prep. We played football together and while John served as our class president, I was vice president. Maybe it's because of our last names, but I was always right behind John. It would mean so much to me if John receives your vote.”
When John became counsel to the Charles Edison Fund and later president and chairman, he helped get more than $500,000 in funding for important Seton Hall Prep programs and initiatives, including Griffin Bridges, STEM & Robotics and capital improvements.
